Back Burning

They were burning the bush in our valley yesterday to reduce the debris load. I’ve seen the results of this at other locations and it’s amazing how all the feral species of plants get knocked and and the natives all seed and grow. It’s a great way of de-weeding the bush and reducing the fire hazard at the same time. The only bit that doesn’t work is the gas and smoke generated. I’d love to know if anyone has seen a study on this topic?

Olive Snake Eating A Kangaroo

We received an amazing email today. It’s old news now but worth a run because it’s real, not a fake. Nature is amazing, nothing goes to waste even this dead kangaroo is getting eaten by an Olive Python. Here’s the original story on ABC. The picture was taken by a “Jody” who is a bush walker. She posted it without details which is a shame. I’d love to know more. Wiki post on the Pilbara mentions Olive Python’s. It says the’re endangered because of mining destroying their habitat. So Northern Western Australia may be where the picture was taken.

An old bird but still looking very cool

I always have mixed emotions trying to admire engineering designed to kill people. I took this photo up at Iluka in northern NSW Australia. These old rockets with wings do Mach 2.5 making the F/A-18’s we have look a little slow at Mach 1.8. Don’t worry you military heads out there because Australia is buying Joint strike Fighters and some F/A-18F Super Hornets to add to the 24 F/A-18’s we have already.

Restoring Customer Satisfaction

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

I went with my daughter Ella on a school excursion yesterday to Taronga Zoo. However the winds were so strong that they closed down the cable car for the day so to restore satisfaction with their customers the zoo gave the kids a free mini-train ride around the zoo. Nothing ever goes absolutely perfectly in life or business so the best thing to do when things happen is just get it cleaned up in a fair and reasonable way.
